Two bodies found buried in sugarcane field

BIRATNAGAR: JAN. 28 – Two bodies were found in a sugarcane field in Morang’s Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality- 6. Two men’s bodies were found in a ditch about 30 meters within the sugarcane field, buried in various spots.

On Wednesday afternoon, a farmer on his way to cut sugarcane noticed a farmer digging in the field and reported it to the land owner, who then phoned the police. On Wednesday evening, police exhumed the body of one person, and on Thursday afternoon, they exhumed the body of another.

On Thursday, a police team from the Morang District Police Office exhumed the body of a 30-35-year-old man from a ditch, and another 45-50-year-old male from another ditch.

SP Janardan GC of District Police Office Morang said the deceased was identified as Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, 49, of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan -3 while investigating the incident.

The body’s clothes and hair were reportedly observed from the outside at the location where the second body was found, according to police. The deceased has yet to be identified. The face is unrecognizable due to the addition of salt to the body, according to the police.

According to the police, salt was used to quicken the decomposition of the body. Both bodies were found with ropes around their necks, while the bodies found on Wednesday had hands tied, according to SP GC.

Although it was easy to notice one person, police said it was difficult to move on with the investigation.
