Two killed in road mishap

MANGALBARE: JAN. 27 – Two persons were killed in a road accident in Ilam district this morning.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Thapa, 55, and Surya Bahadur Thapa, 40, of Mechinagar Municipality-4 in the district, said Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Thapa.

The accident took place when a jeep (State 1-01-001 Cha 7916) heading towards Ilam from Jhapa fell some 500 meters off the road at Rong Rural Municipality-4 along Mechi highway. Both of them died on the spot in the accident.

The jeep driver Arjun Koirala, 33, of Mechinagar-4 was critically injured in the incident. He has been taken to B & C Hospital, Jhapa, for treatment.

Further investigation into the case was underway, added police.
