Nepal’s population 29.1 million, growth rate decreased

KATHMANDU: JAN. 26 – According to the Central Statistics Office, Nepal’s population is 291.92 million 480 people. The department notified today that the preliminary results of the National Census-2078 BS have reached 291.92 million 480 people.

Although the department plans to release the complete results within the next six months, COVID-19 is expected to cause delays. The on-site work of the census was conducted in the first phase from Sept 15 to Oct 4, while the main census took place from Nov 11 to 25.

According to the department, the population growth rate has decreased this time. The population growth rate was 1.35 per cent in the previous census, but it was 0.93 per cent this time. Nepal had a population of 26.494 million 504 people in the census of 2068 BS.
