KATHMANDU: JAN. 26 – Senegal has qualified to the African Cup of Nations quarterfinals. Senegal advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over Cape Verde’s nine-man team on Tuesday night.

In the first half against Senegal, Cape Verde was limited to ten players. When Patrick Andrade, midfielder of Cape Verde, was sent off in the 21st minute, the team was under pressure.

But the second half was also disappointing for them. In the 57th minute, Vozinha was sent off after getting a red card.

Taking advantage of this, Senegal scored the first goal for the team in the 63rd minute. Sadio Mane gave Senegal an early lead. The second goal he made possible during the injury.

Senegal will now face the winner of the match between Mali and Equatorial Guinea on Sunday to reach the semi-finals.
