KATHMANDU: JAN. 26 – COVID-19-infected officials and employees will now only be given seven days off. Previously, officials and employees of any government agency who were placed in home isolation owing to COVID-19 infection were given 14 days off. The time limit has now been shortened to seven days.

In the case of an infection that requires hospitalization, the leave will be granted for three days following discharge. The hospital’s proposal and the appointment of the office’s head have been made mandatory in this regard. Contact tracing individuals will be allowed a maximum of five days off until the COVID-19 test. Earlier, the employees in contact tracing had been getting four days leave.

As the third wave of COVID-19 spreads rapidly, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has issued a circular to the concerned ministries and agencies to arrange COVID-19 leave for the employees.

All ministries, secretariats, commissions, foundations, departments, 77 district coordination committees, and 753 local levels have received circulars from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. In government and semi-government organisations, this provision will be implemented. The head of the office must certify this.
