KATHMANDU: JAN. 23 – Overhead bridges are to be built at Chabahil Chowk and Mitra Park in Kathmandu. The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by Kathmandu Metropolitan Chief Bidhya Sundar Shakya today. The bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs. One crore 30 lakh 42 thousand 578.

At the program, KMC chief Shakya said that the traffic jam in Chabahil and Mitra Park areas will be reduced with the construction of overhead bridges. “We have laid the foundation stone of the bridge as per the demand of the locals. With the help of the locals, we can build the bridge ahead of schedule,” he said.

He said that the bridge being constructed on the south side of Chabahil Chowk has eased the traffic jam and the bridge on the north side is also being constructed. Similarly, a bridge is being constructed in the Jayabageswori area with the investment of KMC. Mayor Shakya said that road bridges and traffic jams would be reduced even if four bridges were built in Chabahil and Gaushala areas.

The bridge being constructed by Savira Construction should be completed by end of Jestha 2079 BS. Both the bridges will be 33 meters long and two meters wide.
