NEW DELHI: JAN. 22 – On Saturday morning, two persons were killed in a massive fire at the Kamala Building in Nana Chowk, Mumbai’s Tardeo.

The incident also resulted in the injuries of nineteen other people. On the 18th floor of the 20-story skyscraper, a level 3 fire was reported. The fire was reported at 7.28 a.m. and was declared level 3 at 8.10 a.m., according to the fire department.

The fire was put out with the help of thirteen fire engines and seven jumbo tankers, according to the department.

The injured were sent to Bhatia and Nair hospitals, where two persons died, according to doctors.

“Six old age people needed oxygen support system. The blaze is under control but smoke is huge,” Mumbai’s mayor Kishori Pednekar told reporters.

Maharashtra BJP president Mangal Prabhat Lodha called it an “unfortunate incident”.

Fifteen of the injured have been admitted to Bhatia hospital – three in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 12 in the general ward – while four others have been sent to the Nair Hospital.
