TALUQAN: JAN. 20 – An aged man and two children were killed and two members of a family injured in a rainfall-related accident in Afghanistan’s northern province of Takhar, a local source said on Thursday.

“The wounded were admitted to our hospital in Ishkamish district early Thursday. The attendant of the patients said they got injured after the roof of their house collapsed late Wednesday night in Mandara locality of Ishkamish,” Noorullah Rahmani, doctor of the district hospital, told Xinhua.

The roof was badly soaked by recent heavy rainfalls that ultimately caused the tragic accident, according to the source.

Roof collapse accidents frequently occur in Afghanistan as most of houses and shops in the countryside are built with mud and wood.

Earlier in January, a five-year-old child was killed and five people wounded in a similar accident in the eastern Laghman province.
