KATHMANDU: JAN. 17 – In the Prime Minister’s Cup T-20 National Cricket Tournament, Nepal Police Club defeated State 1.

Police Club beat State 1 by 6 wickets in the final group stage match today at Kirtipur’s Tribhuvan Cricket Ground. The police had set a target of 102 runs. Police reached the target after losing four wickets in 13.01 overs. Kushal Bhurtel scored the most runs for the Police, with 44. Bhurtel scored three fours and three sixes in 28 balls. Anil Sah scored 26 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee scored 20.

State 1’s Manoj Tamang, Mukunda Yadav, Firdosh Ansari, and Dipesh Kandel each took one wicket. Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first, State 1 lost 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 101 runs. Minash Thapa contributed the highest 59 runs for State-1. Shravan Yadav scored 10 runs. Police’s Aarif Sheikh, Dipendra Singh Airee and Manjeet Shrestha took two wickets each while Karan KC and Sagar Dhakal took one wicket each.

With the victory, Police qualified to the semifinals by winning Group A. After winning all four games in the group, Police added eight points. Tribhuvan Army Club, which plays in Group A, has six points after four games.

The Army had won two games and tied one with State 1. Army advanced to the semifinals after finishing second in that group. Sudurpaschim, which is in the same group, has dropped out of the competition by adding four points, Karnali State 2 and State 1 have also dropped out by adding 1 point each.
