KATHMANDU: JAN. 17 – The government has tightened restrictions across the country amid growing COVID-19 infections. The government has issued an order in 2078 to prevent and control the third wave of the COVID-19 epidemic including the new variant Omicron.

On Friday, the cabinet decided to issue a fresh 36-point order. According to government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the cabinet meeting issued an order to close or control different places under the authority of the Infectious Diseases Act. According to Karki, the decision has been made to use virtual or alternative teaching and learning methods in schools, universities, colleges, and tuition centers for conducting training or other sorts of educational activities.

Shopping malls, department stores, supermarkets or other types of shops should not have more than 25 people at a time. Religious or Cultural Processions, Festivals, Marriages, Nwaran/Nuwaran (child naming ceremony celebrated in Nepal), Pasni (weaning Ceremony or the Rice Feeding Ceremony), Bratabandha (a ritual that a boy must go through before his marriage), Religious Sites, Death Rites, and other essential traditional religious and cultural activities should be conducted in a manner that limits the number of participants to 50 and adheres to public health standards.
