Soldier dies in an elephant attack

KATHMANDU: JAN. 16 – In Chitwan, a soldier was killed by a wild Dhurbe elephant attack. A soldier on a bicycle patrol was killed in an elephant attack in Chitwan National Park on Saturday at about 7 p.m., according to the Nepal Army.

According to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the park’s information officer, the soldier died on Saturday night while being treated at Bharatpur Hospital. The soldier’s identity has not been revealed by the park.

A few years back, 15 people were killed in different parts of Nepal and India when a Dhurbe elephant attacked them after it had been calm for a few days. The hunt for the Dhurbe was then increased, but he was never located.
