Ratan Thapa wins UML Kailali chairmanship, Chand lost by 4 votes
KATHMANDU: JAN. 11 – Ratan Thapa has been chosen chairperson of the CPN-UML in Kailali. Thapa was chosen as the district chairperson from the eighth convention, defeating chairperson candidate Ran Bahadur Chand by four votes.
Thapa received 287 votes, while Chand received 283 votes. Durga Prasad Joshi, meanwhile, defeated Sitaram Budhathoki to become vice-chairperson. Joshi received 327 votes, while Budhathoki received 209 votes. Daisy Pandey was elected secretary with 294 votes. His opponent, Dan Bahadur BK, received 260 votes. In the same category, Mamata Chaudhary and Lokendra Bahadur Shahi both won.
In Kailali, an alliance was formed with the district in-charge Narad Muni closed to Bhim Rawal and Oli. They supported Chand. But the candidate close to Rawal lost the chairmanship, supported by Far-Western in-charge Lekhraj Bhatta and co-in-charge Karna Thapa, Thapa won.
