Nepal confirms 24 new cases of Omicron variant

KATHMANDU: JAN. 7 – In Nepal, 24 additional people have been confirmed to have Omicron variant infection. The Omicron variation was confirmed in all 24 samples during the most recent gene sequencing, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

During the screening of 1146 positive COVID-19 samples obtained in Poush (December/January), 250 were confirmed to be ‘S-gene’ negative.

According to the ministry, 24 of the S-negative were genetically sequenced, and Omicron infection was confirmed in all of them.
