Malaysia reports 3,270 new COVID-19 infections, 18 more deaths
KUALA LUMPUR: JAN. 6 – Malaysia reported 3,270 new COVID-19 infections, as of midnight Wednesday, bringing the total to 2,773,156, according to the Health Ministry.
Of the total, 252 are imported, 3,018 are local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed.
In addition, 18 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 31,609.
About 3,195 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 2,701,808.
There are some 39,739 active cases, 257 are being held in intensive care and 137 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
The country reported 245,326 vaccine doses administered on Wednesday and some 79.7 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 78.5 percent are fully vaccinated and 21.8 percent have received boosters.
