Complaint claiming to have more than Rs 1 billion illegal assets

KATHMANDU: JAN. 5 – Reji Rana Chhetri, wife of Chief Justice Rana, has been demanded to investigate the claim that the property was acquired from illegal sources. Dr. Govinda KC submitted a supplemental petition before the Asset Laundering Department on behalf of the Greater Civil Movement, claiming that they had more over Rs 1 billion in assets obtained illegally.

According to the supplementary petition, three plots of property were purchased in Rana’s name at Dhumbarahi in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4 on 2065 Ashoj 4 (20 September, 2008). It has been claimed that the lands of Lot Nos. 342, 471 and 484 have been purchased from illegal sources. A supplementary petition filed by the department on Tuesday claims that the lands numbered 109, 110 and 111 were also purchased in Thamel of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-30 on 2065 Mangsir 4 (19 November, 2008). The area of ​​these three lots is 20 annas.

Dr. KC mentioned in the supplementary petition the purchase of one ropani 8 aana land of lot number 7 in Bhatbhateni of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-5 on July 1, last year. The petition demands a probe into the land in Rana’s name and the source of the money used to purchase it, immediate seizure of the land, a thorough investigation and forfeiture of unlawful property, and severe punishment.

Previously, on December 26, Dr. KC filed the first petition, asking an inquiry and action against Chief Justice Rana’s family members and other relatives.
