Will the new Maoist center leadership be elected by consensus?
KATHMANDU: JAN. 2 – The Maoist center has prioritized the election of a unanimous leadership from the current eighth general convention. The election process, which began on Saturday in a closed session, has been postponed, and unanimous leadership selection has been prioritized.
Despite the fact that the Election Commission has begun the process of selecting the Central Committee from the mixed electoral system in accordance with the law established by the General Convention, the Maoists have done their research and declared the Central Committee by consensus. The UCPN (M) has postponed the election process till 2 p.m. today, stating that it would do further research in order to reach a consensus. At the same time, the leaders are engaged in a concerted effort.
The state-level discussions of the General Convention Organizing Committee have prepared a preliminary list of aspirants to come to the Central Committee from their respective states and submitted it to the Central Office. The standing committee will meet at 11 a.m. to discuss the names from all the states and will present the list of the central committee in the closed session hall starting at 1 p.m. The Maoist center is preparing to propose the central committee before the closed session and then finalize the office bearers from the central committee today.
If no consensus is reached, the election will begin at 2 p.m. The Election Commission has made available the list of 1,742 voters for the Maoist Center’s new leadership election. The nomination of candidates will be registered today from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to the revised election schedule. The deadline for submitting the application is 5:30 p.m.
At 6:15 p.m., the final list of candidates will be published. The election is scheduled to take place today from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., according to the Maoist Election Commission.
