Chelsea stopped, Manchester City with eight-point leads

KATHMANDU: DEC. 30 – Top-ranked Manchester City defeated Brentford to extend their lead in the English Premier League to eight points.

On Wednesday night, Phil Foden scored the game-winning goal for the visiting team City in the 16th minute, giving City their 16th victory. Amerik Laporte scored in the 87th minute, but it was not counted as a goal.

Chelsea was forced to share the points with Brighton in a 1-1 draw Wednesday night. In the 28th minute, Romelu Lukaku gave Chelsea the lead, but Brighton’s Danny Welbeck equalized in injury time.

With the win, City now has 50 points in 20 games. Chelsea, in the second position, had 42 points from the same game. Liverpool, who have played one less game, are third with 41 points.
