24th Earthquake Safety Day’s main event to be held in Patan Durbar Square
KATHMANDU: DEC. 29 – The government is going to organize the main event of the 24th Earthquake Safety Day in Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur on Jan 16 next year.
The Earthquake Safety Day is being observed on Magh 2 (Jan 16) of Nepali month in memory of the 1934 earthquake to spread awareness about earthquake safety measures.
The meeting of the Earthquake Safety Day Main Organizing Committee held here today in the chairmanship of Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand chose Patan Durbar Square to be the venue for the main event.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is also scheduled to attend the event as the chief guest. Also, various educational and awareness programs on earthquake safety will be organized in schools, institutions and public places from Jan 10-30 next year adhering to safety measures against COVID-19.
All state governments will be asked to observe the Day. The slogan for 24th National Earthquake Safety Day is –’Earthquake Safety in Multiple Disasters, Protection of Life and Property while Working Together.’
