Criticism over school closure for conducting fair

JAJARKOT: DEC. 28 – An esteemed school in the headquarters of Jajarkot district has been closed for five days all for conducting a fair, which later invited criticism. The Tribhuvan Secondary School is closed to conduct a fair from December 27 to 31.

A cultural fair is going on in the school premises. “Although it is not good to conduct fair by the closing school, what can I do when the all-party consensus is reached and District Administration Office informed about it,” said school principal Bhakta Bahadur Malla. He further said the school has been provided Rs 50,000 for it.

Officiating administrative chief at Bheri Municipality Dal Bahadur Gharti has also shown concern over the fair organized in the premises of schools which had remained closed for months due to COVID-19. Disruption of teaching-learning and pollution in the school is worrying, he added.

Moreover, the municipality had decided two years back that no crowds as fair and festivals were allowed in the schools reasoning the spread of coronavirus. Aware people took to social media and mocked at the decision to conduct a fair in school.
