One billion budget allocation for upgrading Dhangadhi Airport
KATHMANDU: DEC. 27 – The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has allocated Rs 1 billion to upgrade Kailali’s Dhangadhi Airport to a regional airport. A meeting of NEA chaired by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale on Sunday allocated a budget for land acquisition for upgrading Dhangadhi Airport.
The target is to acquire 250 bighas of land for the airport and expand the runway to 2500 meters. According to Raj Kumar Chhetri, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, the proposal to make Dhangadhi Airport a regional airport by passing the map and acquiring land is being prepared to be taken to the Council of Ministers.
NEA has also allocated a budget for the remaining nine airports in the Far West. 186.1 million for Doti Airport, 30 million for Sanphebagar Airport, 30 million for Kamal Bazar Airport, 25.1 million for Mahendranagar Airport, 15 million for Baitadi Airport, 26.5 million for Darchula Airport, 1.2 million for Bajhang Airport.
A budget of Rs 1.8 million has been allocated for Bajura Airport and Rs 5 million for a feasibility study at Dadeldhura Airport.
