KATHMANDU: DEC. 24 – The 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress has chosen leadership. The counting of votes by the Nepali Congress (NC) Central Committee, which began on Dec. 10 and was completed on Dec. 13, came to a close on Thursday evening.
The counting of votes was completed on the 14th day of the General Convention’s inauguration. On Dec. 10, Congress convened the general convention at the party office in the capital. Congress had tallied the votes of the central members, including the office bearers, at the party office in Sanepa after tallying the votes of the chairperson.
The presidential election was held in two phases, with Deuba winning a second term. Elections for 134 seats in Congress were held. There were a total of 487 candidates in the election.
Voting was held for the central members including one president, two vice presidents, two general secretaries and eight joint general secretaries. The president will now be able to add 33 central members on the basis of inclusiveness.
