16 new faces in NC Central Committee (with list)
KATHMANDU: DEC. 20 – The final voting results of the open member post of the Nepali Congress have been made public. According to the final results on Sunday night, Dr. Shashank Koirala has won with the highest number of votes. He received 3,836 votes.
He is followed by NP Saud, Bal Krishna Khand, Uday Shamsher Rana and Ram Hari Khatiwada. Krishna Kishor Ghimire has been elected in the 35th position. He received 1,707 votes.
Similarly, a new face has reached the central member of the Nepali Congress this time. Out of the total 35 open central member posts, 16 central members have been appointed to the central committee for the first time. They have won the election for the leadership selection process under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.
These are the 16 new faces who have joined the Congress Central Committee
Uday Shamsher Rana: The second member of the Constituent Assembly, Uday Shamsher Rana is a former Minister of State for Finance. He is the former chairperson of Nepal Tarun Dal. He entered the Central Committee for the first time with the fourth-highest number of open votes.
Jit Jung Basnet: Basnet, a former general secretary of the Nepal Students’ Union, won the 11th position in the open category among the central members of the Nepali Congress. He is also the former chairperson of Nepal Tarun Dal.
Ramhari Khatiwada: For the first time, Ram Hari Khatiwada is in the top ten. Khatiwada, who was elected to the Constituent Assembly in 2070 BS from Okhaldhunga, is one of the Congress MPs who will play an effective role in the parliament. He has been elected as a central member of the Nepali Congress for the first time.
Nain Singh Mahar: Former chairperson of the Nepal Students Union Nain Singh Mahar has also been elected as a central member of the Nepali Congress for the first time. Mahar of Dadeldhura managed to stay at the 15th position from the open side.
Kundan Raj Kafle: Kundan Raj Kafle is a former general secretary of the Nepal Students Union. Kafle had failed to become the president of the Dolakha Congress at the 13th General Convention. This time, Kafle has succeeded in reaching the Central Committee for the first time by being in the 20th position among the open side central members.
Guru Baral: Former vice-chairperson of Nepal Students Union Guru Baral has been elected as a central member of the Nepali Congress for the first time. In the 2074 state assembly election, Baral was the direct candidate from the Nepali Congress in Kaski.
Sanjay Kumar Gautam: Former vice-president of Nepali Congress Bardiya Sanjay Kumar Gautam is a former Minister of Irrigation. He has entered the Congress Central Committee for the first time. Gautam came into the limelight after defeating Left Alliance candidate Bamdev Gautam from Bardiya in the 2074 BS general election.
Dr. Govindaraj Pokhrel: Former vice-chairperson of the Planning Commission and former Chief Executive Officer of the Reconstruction Authority, Dr. Govindaraj Pokhrel has also been elected as a central member of the Nepali Congress.
Rajiv Dhungana: Dhungana, who is also the chairperson of the Nepal Students’ Union, has been elected as a central member of the Nepali Congress for the first time. Dhungana has also succeeded in breaking the tradition of defeating the incumbent Nepal Student Union chairperson in the past general conventions.
Dinesh Koirala: Dinesh Koirala came into the limelight after he was snatched from the post of mayor of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation in the last local elections. By snatching his ticket, Congress had supported the Maoist candidate Renu Dahal.
Madan Bahadur Amatya: Madan Bahadur Amatya, who has been the District President of Lalitpur Congress for a long time, has also joined the Congress Central Committee for the first time. Amatya, who was a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2070 BS, has won the post of the open central member.
