Such is the new team of NC office-bearers

KATHMANDU: DEC. 17 – The Nepali Congress has finalized its office bearers for the next four years. Except for two of the 13 office bearers, all new faces have emerged. New faces have also emerged in a variety of clusters, ranging from General Secretary to Joint General Secretaries. All new faces have been appointed, with the exception of President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka.

Deuba acts as President, and Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung act as Vice Presidents. Khadka was elected from the Deuba panel, while Gurung was elected from the Koirala panel. Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa are the General Secretaries. These two well-known names in the NC’s youth circle are also new faces among the office-bearers. Thapa was elected from the Koirala panel, while Sharma was elected from the Prakash Man Singh panel.

However, he will now be with Deuba. Earlier, he had joined the Prakash Man panel after he could not find a place to be a candidate for the post of General Secretary in the establishment group. However, after Prakash Man also supported Deuba in the second phase of the presidential election, Sharma also said, “Where is Prakash Man, I am there.”

In various clusters of Joint General Secretaries, new faces have appeared. More members from the Deuba panel have been elected. As joint general ministers, Mahalaxmi Upadhyaya, Jeevan Pariyar, Bhishmaraj Angdembe, Formullah Mansur, Kishor Singh Rathore, Mahendra Yadav, and Uma Kanta Chaudhary have been elected.

Women’s participation in office-bearers is very low. There is only one woman in the 13-member office. The treasurer is nominated according to the Congress constitution. On the recommendation of the president, one of the elected central members becomes the treasurer.

In the 13th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, the Congress office-bearers had 8 members. A President, two Vice Presidents, two General Secretaries, two Joint General Secretaries, and a treasurer were on the group. The previous working committee of the party consisted of President Deuba, Vice Presidents Bimalendra Nidhi and Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka and Shashank Koirala, Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav, Joint General Secretaries Prakash Sharan Mahat and Sunil Thapa.

Officials in Congress play an important role in running the party. Officials run the party in coordination with various parties. Regarding the important decisions to be taken by the party, it is mentioned in the constitution that the central committee is necessary.
