Pandey elected from ‘backward group’ and Uma Kanta elected from Tharu

KATHMANDU: DEC. 17 – Badri Pandey has been elected from the backward group of the Nepali Congress. At the same time, his rival and Karnali Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has been defeated.
Pandey of the Shekhar Koirala faction got 2,411 votes while Shahi of the Sher Bahadur Deuba panel got 2,133 votes. Chetraj Bajal, who is in the third position, got 99 votes.
Similarly, Uma Kanta Chaudhary has been elected as the Joint General Secretary of Tharu.
According to the latest results, Uma Kanta Chaudhary got 2,545 votes and Teju Lal Chaudhary got 1,772 votes out of 4,368 votes.
Uma Kanta Chaudhary is on Deuba’s faction while Teju Lal Chaudhary is on Dr. Shekhar Koirala’s faction.
