Far West team selected for PM Cup cricket

BAITADI: DEC. 17 – A team from the Far Western State has been selected for the Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s National Cricket Tournament. A 14-member team has been selected under the captaincy of Ritu Kanojia. Other players selected include Bindu Rawal, Dolly Bhatta, Kabita Joshi, Deepa Jora, Bimala Bhatta, Kabita Kunwar, Rubi Poddar, Laxmi Saund, Ishwori Bista, Sobha Rokaya, Divya Karki, Sangeeta Mauni and Samjhana Khadka.
Similarly, Rewati Dhami, Manisha Chaudhary, Bhawana Joshi and Sapana Tamang are the alternate players, said Tej Prakash Bhatta, secretary of the Far Western State Cricket Association. He said that the players were selected on the basis of their performance in the recent state-level competition. The Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s National Cricket Tournament organized by Nepal Cricket Association is starting on Saturday in Dhangadhi, Kailali.
Eight teams from seven states and one department will compete in the competition. The participating teams are divided into two groups. Group A consists of State 1, Lumbini, Bagmati and Karnali and Group B consists of APF Club, Far Western State, Gandaki and State 2.
The winner of the competition will get Rs 500,000, the runner-up Rs 300,000, Woman of the Series Rs 25,000, Best Bowler Rs 15,000, Best Batswoman Rs 15,000 and Woman of the Match Rs 2,000.
