Counting of votes for NC Joint General Secretaries continues
KATHMANDU: DEC. 17 – The counting of votes for the remaining posts of Joint General Secretaries is underway in the election held for the selection of a new working committee under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.
Keshav Rijal, Minister of the Nepali Congress Central Election Committee, announced that the counting of votes for the remaining Joint General Secretary is ongoing, with preliminary results expected soon.
The results of three of the eight clusters for the post of Nepali Congress General Minister were announced on Thursday, and the counting of votes for the other five clusters is proceeding today. The Nepali Congress has arranged for eight candidates to be elected as Joint General Secretary.
According to the results of the Joint General Secretary post of women, dalits and indigenous tribes cluster, Mahalaxmi Upadhyaya ‘Dina’ was elected as the Joint General Secretary for women, Jeevan Pariyar as the Joint General Secretary for dalits and Bhishmaraj Angdembe as the Joint General Secretary for indigenous tribes. Of the remaining five clusters, counting of votes for the post of Joint General Secretary is now being held for Khas Arya, Madhesi, Tharu, Muslim and backward clusters.
In the Khas Arya group, Kishor Singh Rathore, Devraj Chalise, Mahendra Yadav and Ram Krishna Yadav are contesting for the post of Joint General Secretary from Madhesi cluster. Uma Kanta Chaudhary, Tejulal Chaudhary and Farmullah Mansoor and Sheikh Wakil from the Muslim cluster are contesting for the post of Joint General Secretary of Tharu cluster. Similarly, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Badri Pandey and Chetraj Baral are the candidates from the backward group.
The counting of votes of the remaining Joint General Secretaries and central members is yet to take place in the general election. The counting of votes is taking place at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
