Liverpool’s comfortable win over Newcastle
KATHMANDU: DEC. 17 – Liverpool are increasing pressure on City as they push Chelsea into the English Premier League. In the title race, Liverpool eased to a 3-1 victory over Newcastle, while Chelsea drew 1-1 with Everton.
With the win, Liverpool again limited their lead to top-placed Manchester City by one point. Newcastle took the lead in Thursday night’s 3-1 win over Newcastle. Jonjo Shelvey scored in the seventh minute to give Newcastle an early lead.
But Liverpool equalized in the 21st minute through a goal by Diogo Jota. Salah scored in the 25th minute to give Liverpool the lead and the third goal was scored by Alexander-Arnold in the 87th minute. The goal scored by star striker Mohamed Salah in Liverpool’s victory is his 22nd goal of the season.
