KATHMANDU: DEC. 16 – The counting of votes for the new General Secretary of the Nepali Congress is underway. A total of 2,120 votes have been counted so far in the ongoing counting at the party’s central office in Sanepa.

A total of 4,679 votes have been cast in the polls and 2,120 votes have been counted so far. The votes counted are 45 percent of the total votes.

Gagan Thapa has bagged the highest number of votes so far, followed by Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Prakash Sharan Mahat.

According to the latest data, Thapa got 1385 votes or 65 percent, Sharma got 851 votes or 40 percent, Prakash Sharan Mahat got 698 votes or about 33 percent, Pradip Poudel got 621 votes or 29 percent, Dr. Minendra Rijal got 365 votes or 17 percent and Dr. Rajaram Karki got 59 votes or 3 percent received votes.
