Pakistan wins T20 series against West Indies
KATHMANDU: DEC. 15 – Pakistan have won the three-match T20 series against the West Indies with one game to go. Pakistan beat the West Indies by 9 runs on Tuesday to win the series 2-0.
In the second T20 match played in Karachi on Tuesday night, Pakistan defeated West Indies by 9 runs to win the second match in a row. Earlier, Pakistan had easily won the first T20 series and made the lead.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan lost eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 172 runs. Chasing the target of 173 runs in reply, West Indies were all out in 20 overs and could add only 163 runs. Brandon King’s 67-run half-century for the West Indies, while Romario Shepherd added an unbeaten 35 while captain Nicholas Pooran scored 26 runs.
Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3 wickets. Similarly, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim and Haris Rauf took 2-2 wickets.
Earlier, batting first, Pakistan lost 8 wickets in 20 overs and scored 172 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed added 32 runs for Pakistan while Haider Ali scored 31 runs. Similarly, Shadab Khan remained unbeaten on 28 while Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for 10. ODN Smith of West Indies took 2 wickets.
The final T20 is being played in Karachi on Thursday. After that, the two teams are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series.
