2,500 votes cast, counting from 10 pm
KATHMANDU: DEC. 14 – The counting of votes will take place immediately after the completion of the second phase of voting for the election of the President under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. The counting of votes will begin from 10 p.m., according to the Congress Election Committee. The voting period began at 3 p.m. and ended at 7 p.m.
The committee estimates that the vote counting will take 3 to 4 hours to complete. Today, just the votes of the presidents will be counted. The committee has said that voting for other posts will take place only on Wednesday.
More than 2,500 votes have been cast thus far.
The second phase of the election was held on Monday after none of the presidential candidates got more than 50 percent of the votes. In the first phase, Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. Shekhar Koirala, who got the first and second majority votes, are competing.
