Second phase of voting for election of president begins [Photos]
KATHMANDU: DEC. 14 – The second phase of voting for the election of the president began in the closed session of the fourth day of the Nepali Congress’s 14th general convention, which is still underway. On Tuesday, voting began at 3:30 p.m. The Central Election Committee has declared that voting will take place till 7:30 p.m.
Delegates from Congress are lining up outside the National Assembly to vote. Outside the National Assembly, a big gathering of Nepali Congress (NC) cadres has assembled. The police have only permitted the delegates enter the National Assembly after checking at their identification cards.
Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. Shekhar Koirala are competing for election in the second phase. Deuba received 2258 votes in the first round, whereas Shekhar received just 1702 votes.
