My victory in the second round is certain: Shekhar

KATHMANDU: DEC. 14 – Another candidate Dr. Shekhar Koirala, who had fielded Sher Bahadur Deuba in the first round of the election for the post of President under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, has said that his victory in the second round has been ensured.

Shekhar said this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. “My victory in the second round is assured,” Shekhar told the conference. “I am grateful to all the delegates who voted in the first round.”

Deuba polled 2258 votes while Shekhar polled 1702 votes in the presidential election held on Monday.

Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh and Kalyan Gurung, who dropped out of the race from the first round, have said that they will support Deuba. Despite this, Shekhar’s party has decided to go to the polls.
