After more than half of the votes counted, Deuba received just 48.81% of the vote
KATHMANDU: DEC. 14 – The counting of votes for the election of the President of the Nepali Congress under the General Convention is underway. So far, more than half of the votes have been counted.
According to the ongoing vote count, there is a tough competition between the two presidential candidates Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. Shekhar Koirala.
When 2700 was counted, Sher Bahadur Deuba has not even crossed 50 percent. 1,318 votes have been cast in his favor. Only 48.81 percent. Shekhar, on the other hand, got 1,023 votes.
According to Congress legislation, in order to be elected president in the first round, a majority [more than 50 percent] must be brought.
Apart from Sher Bahadur and Shekhar, the rivals are lagging behind by many votes. Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh and Kalyan Gurung have not been able to move forward in proportion to Sher Bahadur and Shekhar.
