Thapa claims that Nirmal Niwas is trying to capture RPP
KATHMANDU: DEC. 13 – Outgoing Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairperson Kamal Thapa has accused the former king and Nirmal Niwas of attempting to take control of the party.
Thapa made the allegation in a letter to RPP chairperson Rajendra Lingden on Monday. “Start a debate within the party about the monarchy and Nirmal Niwas’s plan to run the party remotely,” Thapa said in the letter.
Thapa, in a three-page letter, condemned the monarchy’s intervention and demanded the formation of an impartial inquiry commission. Thapa argues that the party would be unable to proceed unless the problem is remedied.
Thapa also said that the moral ground of carrying the king who interfered in the internal politics of the party has ended. ‘The recent actions of former King Gyanendra and Nirmal Niwas have at once destroyed the basis and heritage of my values. The moral ground of RPP carrying the king has come to an end, ‘he said.
Thapa said that this was not the first incident of Nirmal Niwas interfering in the internal affairs of the party.
He has been accusing Nirmal Niwas of splitting the party in 204 BS and killing the character of the party leadership and creating confusion about RPP by setting up a hymn group for some time now.
