Meeting at Poudel’s residence to finalize the candidate
KATHMANDU: DEC. 11 – Even after the inauguration of the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, both the establishment and other parties have not been able to finalize the candidates. Due to a large number of aspirants, the candidates could not be finalized through repeated meetings and internal consultations.
President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the prime minister from the establishment side, has said that he will run for the post of president for the next term as well. Similarly, there are many aspirants in other office bearers as well.
Deuba is in internal consultation. Deuba is holding internal consultations with the party officials and leaders as the number of aspirants for the post is increasing.
Meeting of Poudel’s party central members
The non-establishment faction of the Nepali Congress has been forced to decide on a common candidate for the presidency. Leaders Prakash Man Singh and Dr. Shekhar Koirala did not give up their stand and were forced to decide on a common candidate.
The meeting of this party is still being held today. A meeting with the aspirants has been convened at the residence of senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel in Bohoratar to decide the office bearers including the chairman. However, Prakash Man Singh, an aspirant for the presidency, has decided not to attend the meeting.
On Friday, he also sat for a while at a meeting in Foodland. After Shekhar Koirala entered, the lion came out. Singh will announce the candidates including the office bearers at 10 am.
