KATHMANDU: DEC. 10 – The 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress has started on Friday. Top leaders of various parties were also invited to the inaugural session of the convention. Among them were CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, CPN-Maoist Central Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-Unified Socialist Chairmperson Madhav Kumar Nepal.

At some point, the relationship between the three leaders is not cordial. Especially after the split of the CPN (Maoist), they seem to be busy blaming each other. In public ceremonies, they speak abusively of one another and make accusations.

Thus, Oli and Prachanda, who have not been seen on the same stage for about a year, and Oli and Nepal, who have not shared the same stage for about six months, were put on the same platform by the Congress. But the relationship between them did not look cordial. Oli reached the stage only after the program started. When he arrived, he was greeted by the Congress cadres in a huddle.

While he was saluting, Dahal turned his head to the other side and Madhav Nepal did not see him. Oli sat to the right of Deuba. Dahal and Nepal were on the left. When Oli turned to Deuba and started talking, Dahal turned to the other side.

It was Nepal’s turn to speak first. He did not mention Oli’s name during the address. The former prime ministers said and addressed in unison. After that, Dahal also addressed the former prime ministers. After that, Oli spoke and addressed the representatives of various parties, not even the former prime ministers.

He even satirized Prachanda’s statement that we should walk together. He said, “Some people here are worried that they will not be able to walk if they are not able to hold the finger of the Congress. They always say let’s walk together. Is walking only to join the government or also for the development of the country?” If the country is for development then UML is also with the Congress. ‘
