We are looking for an alternative to Deuba: Minendra Rijal

KATHMANDU: DEC. 10 – Nepali Congress leader Dr. Minendra Rijal has said that he is looking for an alternative to Sher Bahadur Deuba. Speaking at a program organized in Naxal, Rijal said that the party leadership would change from the general convention.

General Secretary candidate Rijal said that he was worried that the party would not get a majority in the upcoming elections. “It simply came to our notice then that the people would not believe us when we went to the polls with the current leadership in mind,” he said.

Rijal is preparing to field a candidate for the post of General Secretary. “I’m looking for a head right now. I’m not sure who will be the presidential candidate,” he said.

He is in the group of senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel. This group has not been able to find a unanimous presidential candidate. According to Rijal, discussions are still going on about who will be the president.
