Meeting of Poudel’s party central member, Deuba also in internal consultation
KATHMANDU: DEC. 10 – The 14th general convention of the ruling Nepali Congress is starting today to elect a new leadership. The general convention is scheduled to be inaugurated at 1 pm on a platform prepared at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu.
But until the opening day of the General Convention (as of this writing), the founding of the Congress and the leaders of both the parties have not been able to confirm the candidature of the party president. Candidates for other posts are yet to be decided.
President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the prime minister from the establishment side, has said that he will elect for the post of president for the next term as well. Similarly, there are many aspirants in other office bearers as well.
Deuba is in internal consultation in Baluwatar before the general convention. Deuba is holding internal consultations with the party officials and leaders as the number of aspirants for the post is increasing.

The establishment of the Nepali Congress has forced other parties to decide on a common candidate for the presidency. Leaders Prakash Man Singh and Dr Shekhar Koirala did not give up their stand and were forced to decide on a common candidate.
The meeting of this party is still being held today. Senior Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel called a meeting at Battisputali this morning. Prakash Man Singh, Shekhar Koirala and Shashank Koirala, along with senior leader Poudel, are claiming for the president.
After failing to reach an agreement, Singh has said that he will announce the concept along with his candidature on Saturday.
