What is Ashes?
The years-old Test cricket series between Australia and England is known as the Ashes. The series between Australia and England, which is considered an ‘enemy’ in cricket, has been named by Ashes British Media.
After Australia defeated England at the Oval for the first time in a Test series in 1882, the English supporters were so outraged that the players had to be policed at the time. The English newspaper The Sporting Times reports that “cricket has died in England and the Australian cricket team has taken the Ashes with them.” After that, the name of the series is claimed to be Ashes.
Since 1882, England and Australia have played each other 339 times in the Ashes series. Australia has won 136 times and England 108 times. 91 games have ended in a draw. There have been a total of 71 series in the 137-year Ashes history.
Australia has won the series 33 times and England 32 times. A total of 167 games have been played in Australia and 168 in England.
