Congress General Convention: Meeting of non-establishment group begins

KATHMANDU: DEC. 8 – A meeting of senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel’s group is being held to decide on the common candidate for the post. The meeting held at Anupam Foodland in Battisputali will decide on a common candidate for the post of president and then decide on the candidate for other office bearers and central members.

Leaders including senior leader Poudel are participating in the meeting. Leaving the meeting shortly after the meeting started, Poudel said in a brief response to the media that he would abide by the decision of the four aspiring leaders from the group not to attend the meeting.

A meeting of the central members including the aspirants for the president was held on Tuesday but the meeting was called for today as there was no consensus. The Congress General Convention is starting in Kathmandu from next Friday.
