Minister Shrestha announces plan to develop Adikavi’s birthplace into touristic hub

DAMAULI: DEC. 7 – Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha has said that he was working on a plan aimed to develop Chundi Ramgha, the birthplace of national luminary and poet Bhanubhakta Acharya, into a literary and touristic hub.

Stating that nothing significant has been done so far for Tanahun except taking pride in it being the birthplace of the Adikavi, the Minister who represents Tanahun constituency 1 in the House of Representatives pledged to sit for discussions with stakeholders concerned for the protection, promotion and development of the area. Poet Acharya is honoured with the title of Adikavi (pioneer poet) in the Nepali literature

It is learnt that the US-based Intra-National Welfare and Support Foundation is to support the Minister’s plan to develop Chundi Ramgha into a touristic site.

As said by Foundation’s Chair Dilli Adhikari, a giant full-sized statue of the Aadikavi would be built at his birthplace along with the protection of other local heritages under the plan.

Poet Acharya was born on 13 July 1814 in the village of Chundi Ramgha and is honoured with the title of Adikavi in Nepali literature. He is the first person to translate the epic Ramayana from Sanskrit to the Nepali language and to popularize it among the Nepali folks.
