UML is forming a standing committee, who are the possible members

KATHMANDU: DEC. 6 – The CPN (UML), which has just concluded its tenth national general convention, is preparing to form a standing committee of the party. For that, Chairperson KP Sharma Oli is holding discussions and consultations with the leaders. According to a leader, Chairperson Oli is still in discussions with some officials.

According to the leaders, the composition of the committee is practically complete. The UML will send 26 of its 19 office bearers to the standing committee. Chairperson Oli is conducting conversations with the leaders at various phases to accomplish this.

UML has resolved to automatically re-elect the former committee members. Ghanshyam Bhusal, Kiran Gurung, Bhim Acharya, Mani Thapal, and other leaders will automatically become members in that situation. “Besides, other leaders come to the committee,” the leader continued.

In addition, the committee will include Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Khagraj Adhikari, Binda Pandey, Tham Maya Thapa, Yamlal Kandel, Prabhu Sah, Devraj Ghimire, Guru Baral, Sherdhan Rai, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, and others.

The UML Central Committee will meet from December 12 to 13. Sher Bahadur Tamang, UML office secretary, informed the meeting that a standing committee, comprising a politburo, would be constituted.

The UML constitution states that the standing committee will have 45 members and the politburo would have 99 members. The general convention has created a 301-member central committee.
