KATHMANDU: DEC. 6 – India have won the second Test of the series by 372 runs against New Zealand. On the fourth day, India did not allow the Kiwi team to stay at the crease for even 45 minutes. As a result, New Zealand was forced to suffer the biggest defeat in history, while India also won the most in Test cricket history.
On the third day, India set a target of 540 against New Zealand. New Zealand, on the other hand, was out for 167 runs. India clinched the series 1-0 with the win. The first Test resulted in a tie. New Zealand was 140 for five at the close of the third day of play.
New Zealand gained 27 runs on the fourth day but lost the last 5 wickets. Jayant Yadav was the unsung hero of India’s triumph on Monday. He got four wickets on his own, with Ravichandran Ashwin taking the last one. Overall, Ashwin and Yadav collected 4-4 wickets each, with Akshar Patel taking one.
India scored 325 runs in the first innings and 276 runs in the second innings of the second Test. In response, New Zealand were bowled out for 62 in the first innings and all out for 167 in the second.
New Zealand has not won any of their past 12 matches in India. India last defeated India at home in 1988. New Zealand has gone undefeated at the Wankhede Stadium 12 times.
Virat won the 39th Test as India’s captain. The Indian team has now won three games in a row in Wankhade.
This is India’s seventh win in eight games against New Zealand. This is captain Kohli’s fourth consecutive win against New Zealand at homeland and India’s 14th consecutive series at homeland.
Ravichandran Ashwin has also completed 300 home wickets from this Test.
