Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez arrested from Mumbai airport
KATHMANDU: DEC. 6 – Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been arrested from Mumbai airport. Actress Fernandez was arrested by police from the airport on Sunday in a money laundering case. She was stopped at the airport on her way to Dubai for a show.
According to Indian media, she was arrested after the Enforcement Directorate of India issued a look-out notice against her. The directorate has filed a 7,000-page charge sheet against Sukesh Chandrashekhar, his wife Leena Maria Paul and six others in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case.
During the investigation, the central agency found evidence of financial transactions between Sukesh and actress Jacqueline Fernandez. According to police, Sukesh had given Jacqueline more than Rs 100 million inexpensive gifts.
Expensive gifts include jewelry, diamond jewelry sets, crockery, 4 Persian cats (about Rs 9 lakh per cat) and a horse worth Rs 52 lakh. Sukesh also sent large sums of money to Jacqueline’s brother. Police said she was stopped from going abroad as an investigation was underway.
