Lumbini won the U-19 national cricket tournament championship

KATHMANDU: DEC. 5 – Lumbini has become the champion of the U-19 national cricket tournament. Lumbini became the champion by defeating Sudurpaschim State by 113 runs in the final on Sunday.

Chasing the target of 213 runs, Sudurpaschim was all out for 99 runs in 28.3 overs. Lokesh Bam of Sudurpaschim contributed the most 25 runs.

Lumbini spinner Ajay Chauhan took 5 wickets for 20 runs in 5.3 overs. Durgesh Gupta took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 9 overs with 3 maidens. Mohammad Hussain took 2 wickets for 33 runs.

Batting first after losing the toss in Kirtipur, Lumbini scored 212 runs in 50 overs. Lumbini captain Dev Khanal top-scored with 70 runs. Sudurpaschim’s Aakash Chand took 3 wickets while Sher Malla and Hemanta Dhami took 2 wickets each while Narendra Saud and Rahul Bhandari took 1 wicket each.

Ajay Chauhan of Lumbini became the player of the match of the final. Similarly, the best player of the tournament and the best bowler was Mohammad Hussain of Lumbini while the best batsman was Dev Khanal of Lumbini.

Teams from all seven states participated in the competition.
