19th KIMFF will be held from Dec. 9
KATHMANDU: DEC. 5 – The 19th Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) is to be organized.
More than 60 films from 28 countries including documentary, fiction, experimental, short films and animation will be screened in the festival which will be held from Mangsir 23-27 (Dec. 9-13). This time the films will be shown online and live in two mixed mediums. The program will be held in the meeting room of the Film Development Board, said the organizer.
The opening ceremony of the festival, titled ‘Jalbayu Karma (Climate Action)’, will feature ‘Dream Mountain’ in the presence of Sonam Wangchuk, an environmentalist from Ladakh. The festival will feature short films under ‘Green Growth-Green Recovery’ as well as ‘TikTok Challenge’ under ‘Call to Action’ and some films under Nepal Panorama.
Swiss journalist and mountaineer Mario Kassel, Swiss journalist and filmmaker Caroline Fink and actor and director Anup Baral are on the jury.
The festival will feature a master class by photographer Cira Crowell, the launch of Nepal Ma Mero Khoj Yatra (My Discovery Journey in Nepal), and dialogue and discussion on menstrual practice and coping with climate action in Nepal.
