Election for the new leadership of RPP today
KATHMANDU: DEC. 4 – Election for the new leadership of Rastriya Prajatantra Party is being held today. Voting for the chairperson, four vice-chairpersons, three general secretaries and 141 central members will be held from 8 am to 5 pm at the ongoing general convention at Bhrikuti Mandap.
Leaders Kamal Thapa and Rajendra Lingden will compete for the chairperson. They have set up the panel. According to Election Officer Raju Basnet, there are 9 candidates for vice-chairpersons, 6 for General Secretary and 276 for Central Member.
Roshan Karki and Liladevi Shrestha have been nominated in the women’s quota for the four vice-chairpersons. On the men’s side, Jagat Prasad Gauchan, Bikram Pandey, Ram Chandra Rai, Buddhiman Tamang, Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan and Durga Devi Shrestha have been nominated. Rekha Thapa, Kunti Kumari Shahi, Dhawal Shamsher Rana, Shyam Timalsina, Bhuwan Pathak and Bhaskar Bhadra have been nominated for the post.
He said that out of 141 members, 264 were candidates. Basnet said that it was agreed to cast the ballot papers of the chairperson and the office bearers from the electronic machine of the members.
