Dispute erupted in RPP, candidature registration uncertain
KATHMANDU: DEC. 3 – The schedule of the General Convention has been affected due to the representative dispute in the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Due to this, the list of representatives and nomination of candidates could not be registered.
Rajendra Lingden’s faction has accused the incumbent chairperson Kamal Thapa’s party of removing the names of Banke district RPP chairperson and Rupendehi district regional chairperson and naming him as a close representative.
The Lingden faction has also accused the Thapa faction of manipulating the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi and manipulating the names of representatives of 23 other districts. The Lingden faction has not allowed the publication of the final list of participating delegates, saying that the manipulated list should be re-verified.
Hemjung Gurung, a member of the RPP Central Steering Committee and Gandaki state coordinator, said that discussions and initiatives were being taken to resolve the representative dispute. Meanwhile, RPP has fixed the time for the registration of candidates from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm today.
