Thapa and Lingden’s panel in RPP, who are the claimants of office bearers?
KATHMANDU: DEC. 3 – The election process for the new leadership of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has begun. The election process for the new leadership of RPP has started as soon as the dispute over the voter list has been resolved.
The Election Committee, which published the voters ‘list on Thursday evening, has stated that there will be protests against the voters’ list, registration of candidates, protest against their names, publication of the final list and voting on Saturday. There are 4471 delegates in the RPP General Convention.
Chairperson Kamal Thapa and leader Rajendra Lingden are vying for the leadership of RPP along with a panel of four Vice-Chairperson and three general secretaries. From the panel of Chairperson Kamal Thapa, Bikram Pandey, Buddhiman Tamang, Roshan Karki and Dhurva Bahadur Pradhan will be the main candidates for the post of Vice-Chairperson. From the Thapa panel, Bhaskar Bhadra, Bhuwan Pathak and Kunti Kumari Shahi will be the general candidates.
Leader Mukund Shyam Giri said that Bikram Pandey, Dil Bikash Rajbhandari, Ram Chandra Rai and Leela Shrestha would be the candidates for the post of Vice-Chairperson of the Linden panel. Similarly, Dr Dhawal Shamsher Rana, Shyam Timilsina and Rekha Thapa will be the candidates for the post. Leader Bikram Pandey has been included in the panel by both parties but Pandey has not made it clear who he will support. Both sides are claiming Pandey’s support.
RPP’s election program
The Election Committee of RPP has published the voter list of 4471 voters. The list was made public on Thursday at the polling station National Assembly.
According to the election committee, the time has been given till 11 am on Friday to protest the claim. The final publication of the voter list will be done after the protest against the claim.
After that, the final voter list will be published. Candidate applications will be invited from 11:30 am on Friday and candidature registration will be done till 1:30 pm. The Election Committee has given time till 5 pm to protest against the candidature and withdraw the candidature. After that, the final list of all the candidates will be made public at 5 o’clock.
The election committee has said that the polling will start on Saturday morning. RPP is holding elections for four Vice-Chairperson including one woman and three general secretaries including one woman. Similarly, elections are being held for 149 members of the 199-member Central Working Committee. The remaining central members will be nominated by the elected chairperson. In RPP, there is an arrangement for the Chairperson to nominate 7 joint general secretaries, treasurer, joint treasurer, spokesperson and joint spokesperson.
