Suggestion of the ruling coalition to appoint the acting CJ on leave
KATHMANDU: DEC. 2 -Top leaders of the ruling coalition have suggested that CJ Rana be appointed acting chief justice while on leave. This was suggested by a meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar this (Thursday) morning.
The leaders have suggested appointing an acting chief justice as the court has been obstructed for a long time and the chief justice has fallen ill. The Nepal Bar Association has been agitating for the resignation of the Chief Justice. Chief Justice JB Rana is currently undergoing treatment at the Armed Police Hospital in Balambu after testing positive for coronavirus.
Leaders of the coalition including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN-Unified Socialist Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal, JSP Chairperson Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha’s Durga Poudel were present at the meeting.
